Molecular Reorientation of Methanol in Mixtures with Carbon Tetrachloride

Proton and oxygen-17 nmr relaxation rates of C D 3 1 7 O H as well as deuteron nmr relaxation rates of C H 3 O D were measured in mixtures with carbon tetrachloride at different compositions and temperatures. By varying the 1 0-content different contributions to the proton relaxation rate could be separated and from the 1 7 0 H dipolar interaction contribution the correlation time of the O H bo...

Interrelation between Molecular Motions and Phase Transitions in Monomethylammonium Perchlorate. A Study by DSC, Proton, and Deuteron NMR

Differential scanning calorimetry, the temperature dependence of proton and deuteron lineshapes and spin-lattice relaxation times are reported for the isotopic species CH 3 NH 3 C10 4 , CD 3NH 3C104 and CH 3ND 3C104 of monomethylammonium Perchlorate. The data confirmed the existence of three different phase modifications in monomethylammonium Perchlorate and its selectively deuterated analogues...

Relevance between MRI longitudinal relaxation rate and gadolinium concentration in Gd3+/GO/alginate nanocomposite

Objective(s): Relevance between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) relaxation rate and concentration of magnetic nanoparticles determines the capability of a nanomaterial to provide MRI contrast. In the present study, alginate was conjugated to gadolinium/graphene oxide nanocomposite to form gadolinium/graphene oxide/alginate nanocomposite, aiming to investigate its effect on the relevance betwee...

Enhancement of the Cooling System Performance of the Proton-exchange Membrane Fuel Cell By Baffle-restricted Coolant Flow Channels

The performance of proton-exchange membrane fuel cell cooling system using coolant flow channels enhanced with baffles was numerically investigated. To do this, the maximum temperature of the cooling plate, temperature uniformity and also pressure drop along the flow channels were compared for different cases associated with number of baffles and their dimensions inside the channels. The govern...

A nuclear magnetic resonance study of water in aggrecan solutions

Aggrecan, a highly charged macromolecule found in articular cartilage, was investigated in aqueous salt solutions with proton nuclear magnetic resonance. The longitudinal and transverse relaxation rates were determined at two different field strengths, 9.4 T and 0.5 T, for a range of temperatures and aggrecan concentrations. The diffusion coefficients of the water molecules were also measured a...

Origin and behavior of deuteron spin echoes in selectively labeled amino acids, myoglobin microcrystals, and purple membranes.

We have obtained deuterium NMR spin-echo spectra of crystalline DL-[gamma-2H6]valine, [S-methyl-2H3]-methionine, cyanoferrimyoglobin from sperm whale (Physeter catodon), containing deuteriomethyl groups at methionine-55 and methionine-131, and [gamma-2H6]valine-labeled bacteriorhodopsin in the purple membrane of Halobacterium halobium R1. By using 90-tau-beta 90 degrees (XY) and 90-tau-beta 0 d...
